The PFERD 62945 is a Type 29 zirconia alumina flap disc engineered for aggressive stock removal on steel. The conical Type 29 geometry presents the abrasive at a working angle, concentrating grinding pressure and increasing material removal rates compared to a flat Type 27 profile. At 36 grit coarse grade, this disc cuts fast and is well suited to weld blending, surface conditioning, and edge work on ferrous metal. The fiberglass backing plate resists flexing under load, keeping the flap geometry consistent throughout the disc life. Maximum rated speed is 13,300 RPM. The 4.5 inch diameter and 7/8 inch arbor hole fit standard right-angle grinders used daily in fabrication and field work.
This disc is intended for steel grinding applications in fabrication shops, structural steel work, and industrial maintenance environments. The zirconia alumina abrasive self-sharpens during use, sustaining cut rate longer than standard aluminum oxide on hard steels. The trimmable design allows the operator to expose fresh flap material as the disc wears, extending usable life. A licensed welder, ironworker, or general maintenance tech with a 4.5 inch angle grinder is the typical installer. The SGP series designation indicates this disc is positioned for general-purpose steel grinding at a production pace.

Mount on a 4.5 inch right-angle grinder using the appropriate backing pad and flange hardware. Confirm the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 13,300 RPM disc rating before operation. Always install and use the grinder guard per the tool manufacturer instructions and ANSI B7.1 requirements. Inspect the disc for damage before mounting and do not use a disc that shows cracking, torn flaps, or a distorted backing plate.
