The PFERD 44695102 is a Type 27 ceramic flap disc designed for aggressive material removal and surface finishing on steels and stainless steel. Built on a fiber backing, it carries an 80-grit ceramic abrasive that cuts faster and runs cooler than standard aluminum oxide discs. The CO-Cool series construction combines coated ceramic flaps with a non-woven element, extending disc life while reducing heat buildup at the workpiece. Rated to 13,300 RPM, it fits 4.5-inch angle grinders via a 7/8-inch arbor hole. Metal fabricators, welders, and pipe fitters use this disc for weld blending, deburring, and surface prep.
This flap disc is suited for flat and near-flat surface work, which is the intended application for Type 27 geometry. It performs on carbon steel, mild steel, and stainless steel in both shop and field environments. The medium-grade 80-grit rating makes it appropriate for stock removal passes and intermediate blending where a finer finish disc would load up too quickly. It is sold individually and is a practical single-disc addition to a job kit or a direct replacement when running out a supply of a known quantity.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use flap disc for 4.5-inch angle grinders accepting a 7/8-inch arbor hole attachment. Suitable for material applications involving steels and stainless steel as stated in manufacturer specifications.
A licensed or qualified metal fabricator or maintenance technician should mount flap discs following ANSI B7.1 and tool manufacturer guidelines. Always inspect the disc for damage before mounting and confirm the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 13,300 RPM disc rating. Power down and disconnect or lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the disc. Do not use side grinding pressure beyond what the Type 27 flat-face geometry is rated to handle.
