The PFERD 42740011 is a 3-inch quick-change abrasive disc engineered for precision surface finishing and material removal on hard substrates. It uses a diamond abrasive coating at 120 grit (Grade D126) bonded to a fiber backing, delivering consistent cut performance on ceramics, carbide, glass, stone, and hardened metals. The Type S attaching system allows tool-free disc swaps on compatible quick-change holders, reducing downtime during production or repair work. Rated to 5,000 RPM, this disc is suited for use with right-angle die grinders and finishing tools in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and field service environments. Licensed HVAC technicians, machinists, and metal fabricators are the primary end users.
This disc is designed for applications requiring fine material removal or surface conditioning on extremely hard materials where conventional aluminum oxide or zirconia abrasives lose effectiveness quickly. Typical use cases include sharpening carbide tooling, finishing welds on hardened steel, and deburring ceramic or glass components. The coated diamond construction resists loading on dense, non-porous workpieces. Installation is performed by machinists, fabricators, or maintenance technicians using a compatible quick-change backup pad. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before changing discs. Confirm the spindle speed of the grinder does not exceed the 5,000 RPM disc rating prior to use. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and do not use damaged discs.
