The PENTAIR 255494-43 is a pleated cellulose polyester cartridge filter designed to reduce sediment in residential and light commercial plumbing systems. With a 5-micron rating, this filter captures fine particulate matter before it reaches downstream fixtures, valves, and appliances. The pleated design increases surface area compared to wound or spun cartridges, extending service intervals between replacements. At 4.5 inches outside diameter and 20 inches in length, it fits standard whole-house and point-of-entry filter housings common to the trade. Rated for operating temperatures between 40 degrees F and 125 degrees F, it suits a broad range of cold and hot water plumbing applications. Licensed plumbers and water treatment technicians are the typical installers.
This cartridge is suited for whole-house sediment filtration, point-of-entry plumbing systems, and pre-filtration ahead of water softeners, UV systems, or reverse osmosis units. The 5-micron rating makes it appropriate for raw municipal water supplies or well water systems where fine sediment, silt, or sand is present. The cellulose polyester construction handles standard potable water service conditions within the rated temperature range. One cartridge is included per package.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement cartridge for standard 4.5-inch by 20-inch whole-house or point-of-entry filter housings that accept pleated sediment cartridges.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified water treatment technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the main water supply and relieve system pressure before opening the filter housing to replace the cartridge. Inspect the housing O-ring for wear or deformation at each cartridge replacement and replace if needed to prevent leaks. Do not exceed the rated maximum temperature of 125 degrees F or the rated operating pressure for the housing being used.
