The PEMKO 411APKL30 is a full mortise automatic door bottom designed to seal the gap between the bottom of a door and the threshold. When the door closes, the mechanism automatically lowers a PemkoPrene sealing element to contact the floor or saddle, blocking air, sound, light, dust, and moisture infiltration. When the door opens, the seal retracts flush with the door face, preventing interference with floor coverings or traffic. At 30 inches in length with a mill finish aluminum body, this unit is suited for interior and exterior door applications in commercial and residential construction. Architectural millwork installers and door hardware professionals are the primary trades who specify and install this product.
This automatic door bottom is intended for mortise installation into the bottom rail of a door, making it appropriate for new construction and retrofit projects where a concealed, low-profile seal is required. It fits standard door widths at the 30-inch nominal size, commonly referenced as 2 feet 6 inches. Typical applications include office doors, corridor doors, hotel guestroom doors, and residential entry doors where weather sealing, acoustic attenuation, or code-required smoke and draft control is needed.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for full mortise door bottom applications on standard swing doors requiring an automatic drop-seal mechanism.
Installation is performed by a door hardware technician or finish carpenter. The door must be mortised to the correct depth and width at the bottom rail before the unit is set and fastened. Verify door thickness and bottom rail depth are sufficient to accept the mortise housing before cutting. Follow the door manufacturer's template and the applicable building or fire code requirements when installing door bottoms on rated assemblies.
