The PASS SEYMOUR 1597CCD12 is a 15-amp, 125-volt, brown self-test GFCI outlet designed for residential and commercial electrical installations. It operates on a 2-pole, 3-wire grounding configuration and includes a built-in automatic self-test function that continuously monitors ground fault protection status. Safe Lock Protection disconnects power to the receptacle if critical internal components are damaged, ensuring the device does not remain in a failed-safe state. Line and load terminations come pre-backed out and ready to wire, reducing installation time. The outlet is housed in unbreakable thermoplastic construction and ships in a window box. Sold in a pack of 12.
This outlet is suited for wet, damp, or high-risk locations where GFCI protection is required by the National Electrical Code, including bathrooms, kitchens, garages, outdoor receptacle locations, and utility areas. The brown color coordinates with matching brown wallplates and devices. The self-test function eliminates the need for manual monthly testing, making it practical for high-traffic or hard-to-access install locations. Licensed electricians install this device as part of new construction wiring or as a direct replacement for standard duplex outlets in GFCI-required circuits.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install GFCI outlet for standard 15-amp residential and commercial branch circuits requiring ground fault circuit interrupter protection per NEC requirements.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit at the breaker panel and verify zero voltage with a non-contact tester before wiring. Line terminals must be correctly identified and separated from load terminals when downstream protection is required. Do not install in circuits exceeding 15 amps or 125 volts.
