The PARLEC T060815TTP is a solid carbide boring insert in a 60-degree triangle (TCMT) geometry, designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. The insert features a multilayer TiN/TiC/TiN coating that improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during continuous and interrupted cuts. Key dimensions include a 0.156-inch inscribed circle, 0.078-inch thickness, and a 0.008-inch corner radius. The positive rake angle and P chipbreaker geometry promote efficient chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup at the cutting edge. This insert is installed and replaced by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
The T060815TTP is suited for boring stainless steel and steel workpieces, consistent with primary workpiece material designations M and P. The TCMT insert style uses a screw-type clamping method, making it compatible with standard TCMT boring bars and insert holders. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish boring of tight-tolerance bores in both small-batch and high-volume machining operations. The positive rake geometry and chipbreaker help manage stringy chips common when cutting stainless steel.
Designed for use with TCMT-style boring bars and insert holders that accept a 06-size triangle insert with screw clamping. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes stainless steel (ISO material group M) and steel (ISO material group P).
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the boring bar manufacturer's specified feel - do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or contamination before installing a new insert. Verify runout and bore diameter with a test cut before returning the tool to full production.
