The PARLEC C50-77TA4C is a tension-compression tapping chuck with a CAT50 taper shank, designed for use in CNC machining centers and rigid tapping applications. It provides a projection of 4.04 inches and a nose diameter of 2.31 inches, making it suitable for operations where reach and clearance are critical. The chuck supports through-coolant delivery, directing fluid directly to the cutting zone for improved tool life and chip evacuation. It accepts straight shank tap holders and is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in production machining environments.
This chuck is used in vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers running tapping cycles that require tension-compression float to compensate for minor feed-rate mismatches. The tap capacity ranges from M3.5 to M36 metric or number 6 to 1-5/8 inch taps, and pipe tap capacity runs from 1/16 inch to 1-1/4 inch. It is well suited to production shops running mixed tap sizes on a single spindle setup, reducing the need for frequent chuck changes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or upgrade tapping chuck for CAT50 spindle machining centers requiring tension-compression tapping capability.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before mounting, clean the spindle taper and chuck shank thoroughly to prevent runout from contamination. Torque the retention knob to the machining center manufacturer specifications and verify through-coolant passages are clear before starting a cycle. Confirm spindle RPM and feed rate are programmed within the tap manufacturer recommendations before running the first part.
