The PARKER WC23R20S is a string-wound cartridge filter designed for plumbing and water filtration applications. It measures 2.5 inches in outside diameter and 20 inches in length, with a 5 micron rating that captures sediment, sand, rust, and particulate matter from water lines. The filter body is constructed from acetate cotton wound over a stainless steel core, providing structural integrity at elevated temperatures. Licensed plumbers and water treatment technicians install this type of filter in residential and light commercial water supply systems to protect downstream fixtures, valves, and equipment from particulate contamination.
This cartridge is suited for use in standard 20-inch big-blue or equivalent filter housings in potable water, process water, and general plumbing systems. The 5 micron rating makes it appropriate for prefiltration ahead of water softeners, carbon filters, UV systems, and reverse osmosis units. The maximum working temperature of 250 degrees F extends its usefulness to hot water and some industrial process lines where standard polypropylene cartridges would deform.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement cartridge for 20-inch standard plumbing filter housings accepting a 2.5 inch outside diameter string-wound cartridge.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before opening the filter housing. Inspect the housing O-ring for wear or cracking and replace if necessary before seating the new cartridge. Follow local plumbing code requirements, including IPC guidelines, for filter placement in potable water systems.
