The PARKER WC15R20A is a string-wound plumbing cartridge filter designed for sediment reduction in residential and light commercial water treatment systems. Constructed from acetate cotton wound over a polypropylene plastic core, this filter provides a 20 micron nominal rating, capturing sediment, dirt, rust, and scale particles at a size effective for general-purpose pre-filtration. The cartridge measures 20 inches in length with a 2.5 inch outside diameter, fitting standard 20-inch Big Blue or equivalent filter housings. It is rated for use up to 120 degrees F and weighs 5.9 pounds. Plumbers and water treatment technicians install this cartridge as part of whole-house or point-of-entry filtration systems.
This filter cartridge is suited for whole-house sediment filtration, well water pre-treatment, irrigation system protection, and pre-filtration ahead of water softeners or reverse osmosis systems. The 20 micron rating targets larger particulate loads common in municipal and well water supplies. Its string-wound construction allows progressive depth filtration, meaning the outer layers capture coarse particles while inner layers capture finer sediment, extending service life in high-sediment applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement cartridge for standard 20-inch Big Blue and equivalent large-diameter filter housings requiring a 2.5 inch outside diameter string-wound cartridge.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified water treatment technician. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before opening the filter housing. Inspect the housing O-ring and replace if worn before seating the new cartridge. Follow IPC guidelines and the housing manufacturer instructions for torque and reassembly procedures.
