The PARKER MBA5M20 is a thermally bonded meltblown polypropylene filter cartridge rated at 5 microns, designed for liquid filtration in plumbing, water treatment, and light industrial systems. Constructed entirely from polypropylene — including the core, media, and outer shell — the cartridge targets sediment, particulate, and dirt without the need for adhesives or binders. At 20 inches in length and 2.5 inches in outside diameter, it fits standard 20-inch filter housings. The all-polypropylene build resists moisture absorption and is compatible with a broad range of process liquids. Licensed plumbers and water treatment technicians are the typical installers.
This cartridge is suited for residential and light commercial water filtration applications where sediment and particulate removal at 5 microns is required. Common install scenarios include whole-house pre-filters, point-of-entry systems, and inline filtration ahead of sensitive equipment such as reverse osmosis membranes, water heaters, or process equipment. It handles liquid flow rates up to 10 gallons per minute (GPM) and tolerates working temperatures up to 180 degrees F, making it appropriate for both cold and warm liquid service.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement cartridge for standard 20-inch filter housings accepting a 2.5-inch outside diameter meltblown cartridge used in liquid filtration service.
Installation and replacement should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified water treatment technician. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the filter housing before removing the spent cartridge. Inspect the housing O-ring for wear and replace if necessary before seating the new cartridge. Flush the system at low flow after installation to purge any loose polypropylene fines before returning the system to normal service.
