The PARKER MBA50M40 is a thermally bonded meltblown polypropylene filter cartridge rated at 50 microns. It is designed to remove sediment, particulate, and dirt from liquid process streams and water supply lines. The cartridge measures 40 inches in length with an outside diameter of 2.5 inches and weighs 2.24 pounds. Constructed entirely of polypropylene — including the core, media, and outer shell — it supports a maximum flow rate of 20 gallons per minute and withstands operating temperatures up to 180 degrees F. Licensed plumbers, water treatment technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals install this cartridge in standard filter housings sized for this diameter and length.
This cartridge is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial liquid filtration applications where consistent sediment removal is required. Typical uses include pre-filtration for water treatment systems, point-of-entry sediment reduction in plumbing systems, and inline protection for process equipment. The 50-micron rating targets coarse particulate, making it appropriate as a first-stage filter ahead of finer filtration stages. Its all-polypropylene construction makes it compatible with a broad range of water and aqueous liquid applications where chemical compatibility with polypropylene is confirmed.
Designed for use with liquids in standard filter housings that accept a 40-inch cartridge with a 2.5-inch outside diameter. Confirm housing inlet configuration and cartridge end-cap style before installation.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified water treatment technician. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the filter housing completely before replacing the cartridge. Inspect the housing o-ring for wear or damage and replace it if necessary before reinstalling the housing cap. Follow all applicable local plumbing codes and the housing manufacturer's torque guidance for the housing sump.
