The PARKER L209P-8-4 is a brass pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1/2 inch male NPT fitting (MNPTF) connection down to a 1/4 inch female NPT fitting (FNPTF) thread. Rated to 1,000 psi, this bushing is constructed from lead-free brass, making it suitable for potable water systems. It is a standard hex bushing used in plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems, and light industrial fluid-handling lines where a threaded size reduction is required. Plumbers, pipefitters, and HVAC technicians install this fitting when adapting between different pipe thread sizes in pressurized water or compatible fluid systems.
This bushing is appropriate for residential and commercial plumbing installations involving potable water distribution lines. It is also used in HVAC hydronic piping, compressed air headers, and other low-to-medium pressure fluid systems where a 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch threaded reduction is needed. The MNPTF x FNPTF thread configuration provides a tapered, pressure-tight connection when properly sealed with thread tape or pipe sealant compound.
Designed for use with potable water systems and compatible with standard 1/2 inch MNPTF and 1/4 inch FNPTF threaded pipe and fittings in residential and commercial plumbing or HVAC hydronic applications.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters. Shut off and depressurize the system before making any threaded connections. Apply thread sealant tape or an approved pipe compound to the male threads before assembly to ensure a leak-free joint. Tighten with a pipe wrench to a snug fit and confirm no leaks under system pressure before returning the line to service.
