The PARKER 8 TX-S is a steel flared tube sleeve designed for use in hydraulic and fluid-conveyance tube assemblies. It supports a 37-degree flare angle on a 1/2-inch tube OD, conforming to JIC-style flare standards used across industrial, mobile equipment, and HVAC refrigerant-line applications. The sleeve slips over the tube prior to flaring, providing a hardened backing surface that ensures consistent flare geometry and a leak-free metal-to-metal seat when torqued against a mating flare fitting. At 0.56 inches in overall length and a weight of 0.01 pounds, it is a compact, single-piece fitting component. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and hydraulic-line mechanics are the primary installers.
This sleeve is applied wherever 37-degree flare connections are specified in tube assemblies handling hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, fuel, or other fluid media. Its steel construction supports a maximum working temperature of 500 degrees F, making it suitable for high-temperature service environments. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both new construction and repair-and-replace work on tube runs requiring JIC flare terminations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for 1/2-inch OD tube assemblies using 37-degree JIC flare fittings per SAE J514 and ISO 8434-2.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians, hydraulic mechanics, or plumbers working with flared-tube systems. The sleeve must be placed on the tube before flaring is performed — it cannot be installed after the flare is formed. Ensure the tube is cut cleanly, deburred, and properly supported in a flaring tool before initiating the flare. Always depressurize and isolate the fluid circuit before disassembling or modifying any tube connection.
