The PARKER 8 CBU-S is a flareless bite-type tube male elbow designed for high-pressure hydraulic and instrumentation tubing systems. This 90-degree steel elbow transitions a 1/2-inch OD tube to a 3/8-inch NPTF male thread, using a 24-degree flare angle and bite-type ferrule action to grip and seal tubing without a flared end. Rated to 5,000 psi maximum working pressure, it is built for demanding fluid power and process control applications. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and hydraulic system technicians are the typical installers.
This fitting is suited for industrial, mobile hydraulic, and instrumentation plumbing applications where flareless tube connections are specified. The bite-type design is commonly used in systems requiring a leak-tight, vibration-resistant connection in tight spaces where flaring is impractical. The 90-degree elbow geometry allows directional changes in tubing runs within compact assemblies. Both OEM assembly and field service installations are common use cases.
Designed as an OEM-style flareless bite-type fitting for use with 1/2-inch OD steel tubing systems utilizing 3/8-inch NPTF ported connections in hydraulic and fluid power assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a qualified pipefitter, hydraulic technician, or licensed plumber familiar with flareless bite-type fitting assembly procedures. Depressurize and isolate the hydraulic or fluid system completely before disassembly or installation. Follow the fitting manufacturer's prescribed ferrule pre-setting procedure to ensure proper tube bite and seal. Verify that tubing OD, wall thickness, and material are compatible with the fitting rating before pressurizing the system.
