Hand-tighten the compression nut first, then apply the appropriate number of turns with a wrench per the fitting manufacturer guidance — do not overtighten, as this can damage the compression ferrule. Installations on gas or high-pressure hydraulic lines should comply with applicable codes including IFGC and ASME B31 standards where required.
