The PARKER 685HB-4-4 is a brass male connector hose barb fitting designed to create a secure, leak-resistant connection between a flexible hose and a threaded port. It features a 7/16-20 SAE straight thread on one end and a beaded hose barb sized for 1/4 inch inside diameter hose on the other. The beaded barb profile grips the hose wall to resist pull-off under pressure and vibration. Rated for a working temperature range of -40 degrees F to 160 degrees F, this fitting is suited for hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid transfer lines found in HVAC, refrigeration, and light industrial plumbing applications. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and fluid system assemblers install this type of fitting as a standard service or OEM replacement component.
This fitting is appropriate for low-pressure fluid or gas lines where a flexible hose must terminate at a straight-threaded port. Typical applications include refrigerant oil lines, condensate and coolant hoses, and hydraulic control circuits in both residential and light commercial equipment. The straight thread engagement requires a sealing method at the port face, such as an O-ring boss seat, rather than relying on thread taper for the seal. The compact overall length of 1.4 inches makes it practical in confined equipment cabinets and control compartments.
Designed for use with 1/4 inch inside diameter flexible hose and SAE 7/16-20 straight-thread ports in fluid transfer, hydraulic, and HVAC control line applications.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, or hydraulic system technicians. De-pressurize and drain the line completely before removing or installing any hose fitting. SAE straight threads do not self-seal on the thread form — confirm the mating port has a functional O-ring boss or face seal arrangement before assembly. Use a wrench on the hex head only; do not grip the barb shank to avoid distorting the sealing geometry.
