The PARKER 661FHD-8-10 is a brass flare union fitting designed to connect male flare and female flare tube ends in refrigeration, HVAC, and fluid system applications. It transitions between 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch tube outside diameters using a 45-degree flare angle and a 7/8-14 UNF thread on the male end, with a reduced thread size of 3/4-16 on the female end. Constructed entirely from brass, this fitting handles working pressures up to 750 psi and temperatures up to 250 degrees F. It is sold individually and is a standard catalog component for licensed HVAC and refrigeration technicians.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration lines, and other fluid or gas circuits where SAE-standard flare connections are required. The 45-degree flare geometry conforms to SAE J512 and SAE J513 standards. The reduced thread on the female end accommodates the step-down between the two tube sizes, making it appropriate for applications where line sizes change at a junction point. Installation is performed by HVAC technicians and refrigeration mechanics working with copper or compatible tubing systems.
Designed for use with 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch OD tubing in SAE 45-degree flare systems conforming to SAE J512 and SAE J513 specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or refrigeration mechanic. Depressurize and recover any refrigerant from the system before disconnecting or installing flare fittings. Use a calibrated flaring tool to form consistent 45-degree flares on the tubing ends before making up the connection. Do not overtighten; refer to applicable SAE and system manufacturer guidance for proper assembly practices.
