The PARKER 61AB-8 is a brass compression tube nut designed to secure compression fittings on 1/2-inch outside diameter tubing. It provides a reliable mechanical seal in fluid and pneumatic line assemblies without the need for flaring or soldering. Rated to 400 psi maximum working pressure and a temperature range of -65 degrees F to 250 degrees F, this nut meets D.O.T. FMVSS571.106 and SAE J246 standards. It is installed by plumbers, HVAC technicians, and fluid-system mechanics wherever brass compression fittings are used in regulated applications.
The 61AB-8 is suited for use in brake line, fuel line, hydraulic, and general fluid-transfer systems that require DOT-compliant components. Its brass construction makes it compatible with a wide range of media and environments, including those subject to vibration and thermal cycling. This nut is a single-piece component sold individually and is intended for use as part of a complete compression fitting assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style compression tube nut for use with 1/2-inch OD tubing in compression fitting assemblies meeting D.O.T. FMVSS571.106 and SAE J246 requirements.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers or qualified HVAC and fluid-systems technicians. Always depressurize and isolate the line before disassembling or assembling compression fittings. Hand-tighten the nut onto the fitting body before applying a final turn with a wrench to seat the ferrule properly. Do not overtighten, as brass compression components can deform if excess torque is applied.
