The PARKER 5MSEL4N-316 is a stainless steel compression tube male elbow fitting designed to connect tubing to a male NPT-threaded port at a 90-degree angle. It uses a compression end on one side and a 1/4-18 MNPT end on the other, creating a secure, leak-resistant joint without welding or brazing. Rated to 8100 psi maximum working pressure, it handles extreme temperature ranges from -425 degrees F to 1200 degrees F, making it suitable for high-pressure gas, hydraulic, and instrumentation lines. Plumbers, pipefitters, and instrumentation technicians install this fitting in systems where a direction change from tube to threaded pipe is required.
This fitting is used in residential and commercial applications involving instrumentation tubing, process piping, pneumatic lines, and high-pressure hydraulic systems. The compression-by-MNPT configuration is a common interface point where stainless steel tubing transitions to NPT-threaded components such as valves, manifolds, pressure gauges, and control equipment. Its wide temperature tolerance makes it appropriate for cryogenic service as well as high-heat process environments.
Designed as an OEM-style compression tube fitting for use with standard compression tubing and 1/4-18 NPT-threaded ports in instrumentation, pneumatic, and high-pressure fluid systems.
Installation is typically performed by licensed pipefitters or instrumentation technicians following applicable codes such as ASME B31.3 for process piping. Depressurize and isolate the line completely before disassembly or installation. Compression fittings should be tightened to snug-plus-a-specified-turn per the fitting manufacturer torque procedure — do not over-tighten. Apply appropriate thread sealant to the NPT threads in accordance with the system fluid compatibility requirements.
