The PARKER 5 VTX-S is a steel 45-degree male elbow fitting designed for flared tube connections in high-pressure fluid and pneumatic systems. It features a 37-degree flare on the tube end and a male NPTF thread on the pipe end, giving it a Flare x MNPTF configuration. The fitting accepts 5/16-inch tube OD and uses a 1/8-inch NPTF thread. With a maximum working pressure of 6000 psi, it is built for demanding hydraulic and instrumentation applications. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, and fluid power technicians install this type of fitting during line fabrication and equipment hookup.
This fitting is used in residential and commercial applications wherever a 45-degree directional change is needed in a flared metal tube line. Typical scenarios include refrigeration line sets, hydraulic control circuits, and pneumatic instrument tubing. The NPTF thread provides a pressure-tight mechanical seal without relying solely on thread sealant. It is a catalog-standard Parker fitting sold individually.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with 5/16-inch OD flared metal tubing systems using 1/8-inch NPTF port connections.
Installation should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with flared tube fitting assembly and NPTF thread engagement. De-pressurize and isolate the line completely before removing or installing any fitting. Use the appropriate flaring tool to achieve a proper 37-degree flare on the tube end before assembly — an improper flare is the most common cause of leaks with this fitting type. NPTF threads are designed to seal on the threads themselves; inspect threads for damage before installation and apply thread sealant only if required by the system specification.
