The PARKER 5 ETX-S is a steel flared tube union designed to connect two flared tube ends in high-pressure fluid and gas systems. It features a 37-degree flare angle on both ends, conforming to the standard JIC flare geometry used widely in hydraulic, refrigeration, and instrumentation lines. Rated to a maximum working pressure of 6000 psi, this union is built for demanding service conditions. The all-steel construction provides durability under pressure cycling and vibration. HVAC technicians, plumbers, and hydraulic system installers use this fitting when a reliable, leak-resistant union is required in metal tubing runs.
This fitting is suited for residential and commercial applications where 5/16-inch OD tubing must be joined with a reusable, pressure-rated flare connection. Typical install scenarios include refrigerant line repairs, hydraulic circuit assembly, and instrument tubing connections where a union allows future disassembly without cutting the line. The flare-by-flare end configuration means both mating tubes must be flared to the 37-degree JIC standard before assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service fitting for systems using 5/16-inch OD tubing with 37-degree flare connections, including hydraulic, refrigeration, and instrumentation plumbing circuits.
Installation should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with flared tube fitting assembly. Depressurize and isolate the line completely before disconnecting or installing any fittings. Both tube ends must be properly flared to a 37-degree angle using an appropriate flaring tool before assembly. Overtightening flare nuts can crack the flare seat and cause leaks; snug the nut to seat the flare, then advance only as needed per standard trade practice.
