The PARKER 4SC4-316 is a compression tube union designed to join two sections of 1/4-inch outside diameter tubing with a compression-to-compression end connection. Machined from 316 stainless steel, this union delivers exceptional resistance to corrosion and high-temperature degradation, with a maximum working pressure of 10,300 psi and a rated temperature range from -425 degrees F to 1,200 degrees F. It is used in instrumentation, hydraulic, and process-fluid tubing systems where leak-free, high-integrity tube joints are required. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and instrumentation technicians are the primary installers of this fitting.
This union is suited for demanding industrial and commercial applications including chemical processing, oil and gas instrumentation lines, high-pressure hydraulic circuits, and cryogenic service given its extreme low-temperature rating. The compression-by-compression configuration allows inline tube connection without welding or soldering, making it practical for field assembly and service. Installation should be performed by a qualified pipefitter, plumber, or instrumentation technician in accordance with applicable codes such as ASME B31.3 for process piping. Depressurize and isolate the tubing system fully before disassembling or installing any compression fitting. Use the appropriate tube preparation tools, including a deburring tool and tube cutter, to ensure a clean square cut before seating the ferrule. Do not overtighten compression fittings, as this can deform ferrules and compromise the seal.
