The PARKER 48F-8-6 is a brass flared tube connector designed for use in fluid and pneumatic distribution systems requiring a leak-free metal-to-metal seal. It features a 45-degree flare end on one side and a male NPTF (National Pipe Taper Fuel) thread on the other, with a thread size of 3/8-18. The fitting accepts 1/2-inch OD tubing and is rated for up to 750 psi working pressure and 250 degrees F. Licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipefitters install this connector when transitioning between flared tubing and pipe-threaded ports in fuel, refrigerant-adjacent, or hydraulic line assemblies.
This connector is suited for residential and light commercial applications where copper or other compatible tubing connects to a threaded port on valves, manifolds, or equipment housings. The NPTF thread standard provides a pressure-tight seal through thread-form interference, reducing reliance on sealants. At 1.6 inches overall length and 0.11 pounds, it installs in tight spaces without adding significant bulk to the line assembly. Technicians working on fuel gas lines, oil burner piping, or similar systems will find this fitting meets SAE J512 and SAE J513 dimensional standards.
Designed as an OEM-style flare fitting for use with 1/2-inch OD tubing and 3/8-18 NPTF male pipe thread ports in fluid and pneumatic distribution systems.
Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians should depressurize and isolate the line before removing or installing any flare fitting. Ensure the tubing end is cut square, deburred, and properly flared to 45 degrees before seating the connector. NPTF threads are designed to seal on the threads themselves; inspect threads for damage before assembly and apply sealant only if required by the system manufacturer or applicable code. Follow IFGC or applicable local codes when installing in gas or fuel service.
