The PARKER 48F-4-2 is a brass flared tube connector designed for reliable tube-to-pipe connections in fluid and gas systems. It features a 45-degree flare end on one side and a male NPTF (Dryseal) threaded end on the other, providing a leak-resistant seal without sealant tape on the pipe thread side. The connector accepts 1/4-inch OD tubing and threads into a 1/8-27 NPTF port. Rated to 1400 psi maximum working pressure and 250 degrees F, it suits demanding service conditions. HVAC technicians, plumbers, and refrigeration mechanics regularly use this fitting in copper and brass tubing assemblies where a transition from flared tubing to a threaded port is required.
This connector is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC, refrigeration, hydraulic, and pneumatic tubing systems. It is commonly installed where 1/4-inch OD flared tubing terminates at a component port, valve body, or manifold with a 1/8-27 NPTF female thread. The Dryseal thread form provides pressure-tight engagement under vibration and thermal cycling without relying solely on thread sealant. The compact overall length of 1.04 inches makes it appropriate for tight routing situations in mechanical equipment rooms and rooftop units.
Designed as an OEM-style flared tube connector for systems using 1/4-inch OD tubing with a 45-degree SAE flare and components ported to 1/8-27 NPTF threads.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician, refrigeration mechanic, or plumber. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Inspect the tube end for concentricity and ensure the flare is formed correctly to SAE specifications before tightening; an uneven or cracked flare will not seal. Do not overtighten the flare nut, as brass flare seats can be damaged by excessive torque.
