The PARKER 42F-4 is a brass flared tube union designed to join two flared tubing runs in a single inline connection. It accepts 1/4-inch tube OD on both ends with a 45-degree flare angle and 7/16-20 UNF threads, conforming to SAE J512 and SAE J513 standards. Rated for a maximum working pressure of 1,400 psi and a maximum working temperature of 250 degrees F, this fitting is built for reliable service in refrigeration, HVAC, and fluid-handling lines. Licensed HVAC technicians and plumbers install this union when splicing or extending flared copper or aluminum tubing runs in the field.
The 42F-4 is used in residential and light commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration circuits, and hydraulic or pneumatic fluid lines where a flare-to-flare union connection is required. Its compact overall length of 1.17 inches makes it suitable for tight installation spaces. The fitting is appropriate wherever SAE 45-degree flare connections are specified, including suction and liquid line repairs, refrigerant piping, and low-pressure pneumatic circuits.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or field-service fitting for SAE 45-degree flare tube union applications using 1/4-inch OD tubing with 7/16-20 UNF threads.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or plumber familiar with flared tubing connections. De-energize the system and recover any refrigerant charge before breaking the line, in accordance with EPA Section 608 requirements. Use a calibrated flaring tool to produce a clean, crack-free 45-degree flare seat before assembling the union. Do not overtighten flare nuts; hand-tighten first, then use a wrench to snug the connection without distorting the flare seat.
