The PARKER 4-8 FTX-S is a steel flared tube connector designed for high-pressure fluid and gas line connections in industrial and trade applications. It features a 37-degree flare seat on the tube end and a male NPT (NPTF) thread on the pipe end, creating a Flare x MNPT configuration. The fitting accepts 1/4-inch tube OD and threads into 1/2-14 NPTF ports. It is rated for a maximum working pressure of 6000 psi dynamic and a maximum working temperature of 500 degrees F (260 degrees C). HVAC technicians, plumbers, and pipefitters install this type of fitting where flared tubing must transition to a threaded pipe connection.
This connector is suited for residential and commercial systems that use 1/4-inch flared tubing routed to NPTF-threaded ports. Typical applications include refrigeration lines, hydraulic circuits, fuel systems, and instrumentation plumbing where a leak-free metal-to-metal seal is required. The 37-degree flare angle conforms to SAE J514 and ISO 8434-2 standards, making it compatible with equipment built to those specifications. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both new installation and maintenance repair work.
Designed for use with 1/4-inch OD flared tubing terminating at 1/2-14 NPTF-threaded ports in systems built to SAE J514 or ISO 8434-2 flare fitting standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber, pipefitter, or HVAC technician. Depressurize and isolate the system completely before removing or installing any fittings. Flare the tube end to the correct 37-degree angle using a calibrated flaring tool before assembly; an improperly formed flare is the leading cause of leaks in this fitting type. NPTF threads are designed for metal-to-metal dry-seal engagement — follow the fitting manufacturer torque guidance and inspect for leaks after system pressurization.
