The PARKER 318P-4PP is a 1/4 inch polypropylene pipe plug designed to seal threaded pipe openings in fluid handling and piping systems. Constructed from black polypropylene, this plug features male pipe thread (MPT) end connections for straightforward installation into female-threaded ports and fittings. It meets FDA and NSF-51 standards, making it suitable for use in food-contact and potable water adjacent applications. Plumbers, pipe fitters, and system installers use this plug to cap off unused pipe outlets, test ports, or branch lines during service or permanent decommissioning.
This plug is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, fluid distribution, and process piping installations where a lightweight, corrosion-resistant thermoplastic fitting is appropriate. The polypropylene construction resists many common chemicals, making it a practical choice for water treatment, food service equipment, and general-purpose fluid systems. Its 1/4 inch MPT thread size fits standard female NPT ports of the same nominal size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard pipe plug for 1/4 inch female NPT threaded ports in plumbing, fluid handling, and process piping assemblies.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or pipe fitter. Depressurize and drain the system before removing or installing any pipe plug. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the MPT threads before installation. Do not overtighten polypropylene fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque; hand-tight plus a minimal additional turn with a wrench is the standard approach for plastic pipe plugs.
