The PARKER 316P-8-4PP is a polypropylene hex nipple designed for reducing pipe connections in plumbing, chemical handling, and fluid distribution systems. This fitting transitions from a 1/2-inch male pipe thread to a 1/4-inch male pipe thread using standard MPT end connections on both ends. The black polypropylene construction resists corrosion, moisture, and many common chemicals, making it a practical choice where metal fittings would be subject to degradation. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting when reducing line size between threaded pipe sections in low-pressure fluid or gas distribution runs.
This hex nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications, as well as chemical processing, irrigation, and pneumatic systems where polypropylene is an approved material. The external wrench flats allow standard hex tooling for installation and removal without slipping. It is commonly used in filter housings, manifolds, and instrument connections where a compact threaded reducer is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for threaded polypropylene piping systems using standard NPT-compatible male pipe thread connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters working on threaded piping systems. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape appropriate for use with polypropylene and the specific fluid or gas being conveyed. Do not overtighten polypropylene fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque.
