The PARKER 218P-12 is a brass hex plug designed to seal pipe ends in industrial and commercial fluid systems. Threaded with a 3/4-inch male MNPTF connection, this fitting creates a pressure-tight closure rated to 1,000 psi maximum working pressure. The brass construction resists corrosion and handles a wide service temperature range, from -65 degrees F to 250 degrees F. It meets SAE J530 and SAE J531 standards. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and fluid power technicians install this type of fitting during system assembly, maintenance, or pressure testing to cap unused ports and branch lines.
This hex plug is suited for use in hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, and general-purpose fluid piping systems where a threaded pipe port needs to be sealed. The MNPTF thread profile provides a dry-seal connection without requiring additional sealant tape or compound, though jobsite practice may vary. It is commonly installed in industrial machinery, plumbing headers, compressor manifolds, and test bench assemblies where 3/4-inch NPT ports must be closed off reliably under moderate to high pressure conditions.
Designed as a standard MNPTF hex plug for 3/4-inch pipe thread ports in hydraulic, pneumatic, and general-purpose fluid piping systems conforming to SAE J530 and SAE J531 thread standards.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber, pipefitter, or fluid power technician using an appropriately sized open-end or box wrench on the hex head. Depressurize and isolate the system completely before installing or removing any threaded fittings. MNPTF threads are designed for dry-seal engagement, but verify jobsite specifications and applicable codes such as the IPC or IFGC before omitting thread sealant. Do not overtighten, as brass threads can strip or crack the fitting body.
