The PARKER 179PTC-4-4 is a brass push-to-connect swivel 45-degree male elbow fitting designed for tube-to-male NPT applications in compressed air and pneumatic brake systems. It accepts 1/4-inch OD tubing on the push-to-connect ends and threads into 1/4-inch NPT female ports. Rated to 250 psi maximum working pressure, this fitting is constructed from brass with a nitrile O-ring seal. It carries D.O.T. FMVSS 571.106 certification, making it a compliant choice for air brake circuit plumbing on commercial vehicles and related equipment. Licensed HVAC, fleet maintenance, and pneumatic system technicians regularly use fittings of this type in both mobile and stationary compressed-air installations.
This fitting is suited for DOT-regulated air brake systems as well as general pneumatic plumbing where 1/4-inch OD tubing meets a 1/4-inch NPT male connection at a 45-degree angle. The swivel feature allows the threaded end to rotate during installation, reducing tube stress and simplifying routing in tight engine bays, chassis rail runs, or panel-mount assemblies. Designed as a DOT-compliant air brake fitting for compressed-air systems using 1/4-inch OD tubing and 1/4-inch NPT female ports, per D.O.T. FMVSS 571.106, SAE J2494, SAE J2494-3, and SAE J844 specifications.
Depressurize and drain the air brake or pneumatic system completely before removing or installing any fittings. The swivel NPT thread should be wrench-tightened to achieve a leak-free seal — apply thread sealant compatible with compressed air and brass per the system manufacturer's guidelines. Tubing should be cut square and deburred before insertion into the push-to-connect end to ensure proper O-ring seating. Post-installation, pressurize the system gradually and verify all connections with a leak-detection solution before returning the system to service.
