The PARKER 179HB-6-4 is a brass elbow barbed hose fitting designed to connect a 3/8 inch inside diameter hose to a 1/4 inch male NPT threaded port. The 90-degree elbow configuration allows routing hose in tight spaces without kinking or stressing the hose end. The beaded hose barb design improves grip and helps retain the hose under pressure. Constructed from brass, this fitting is suitable for water, air, and compatible fluid transfer applications. It is a standard trade component installed by HVAC technicians, plumbers, and maintenance professionals working on low-pressure fluid or pneumatic systems.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial applications where a directional change is needed at a threaded port connection. Typical install scenarios include equipment drain lines, condensate routing, pneumatic tool hookups, and low-pressure water supply connections. The 1/4 inch NPT male thread is a widely used standard connection found on valves, pumps, and equipment housings. The 3/8 inch ID hose barb accommodates standard flexible hose in that bore size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service fitting for systems using 3/8 inch ID flexible hose terminated to a 1/4 inch male NPT threaded port.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber, HVAC technician, or pipefitter. Shut off fluid or air supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any hose fitting. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads per IPC and IFGC best practices before threading into the mating port. Tighten using a wrench on the hex head — do not overtighten, as brass threads can be damaged by excessive torque. Secure the hose to the barb with an appropriate clamp rated for the service conditions.
