The PARKER 179HB-10-8 is a brass elbow barbed hose fitting designed to connect a 5/8-inch inside diameter hose to a 1/2-inch male NPT threaded port. The elbow configuration allows a 90-degree directional change in hose routing, which is useful in tight plumbing, HVAC, and fluid-transfer installations where a straight fitting will not clear adjacent components. It features a beaded hose barb design that provides a more secure grip on the hose wall and reduces the chance of blow-off under pressure. Rated for use from -40 degrees F to 160 degrees F, this fitting suits a wide range of liquid-handling applications in trade and light industrial environments.
This fitting is commonly used in residential and light commercial HVAC condensate lines, plumbing systems, and general fluid-transfer assemblies where a hose must transition to a threaded pipe connection at a 90-degree angle. The male NPT thread end connects directly to standard NPT female ports on valves, manifolds, equipment housings, or pipe fittings. The hose barb end accepts 5/8-inch ID flexible hose secured with a clamp. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipefitters routinely use this type of fitting when building or servicing condensate drain assemblies, coolant circuits, or low-pressure water lines.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation barbed hose elbow for systems using 5/8-inch ID flexible hose terminated at a 1/2-inch NPT female port.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician following applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines for the system being serviced. Shut off fluid supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any fitting. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male NPT threads before tightening; use a wrench on the hex head only and do not overtighten. Secure the hose to the barb with an appropriately rated hose clamp after seating the hose fully over the beaded barb.
