The PARKER 172PTC-8-4 is a push-to-connect tube-to-male NPT fitting designed for tube-to-tube and tube-to-threaded-port connections in pneumatic and air brake systems. Made from brass, it accepts a 1/2 inch OD tube on both tube ends and terminates with a 1/4 inch NPT male thread. Rated to 250 psi maximum working pressure, this fitting is classified as a D.O.T. air brake fitting, making it suitable for regulated air brake circuit work. The nitrile O-ring seal provides reliable tube retention and a leak-resistant connection across a wide service temperature range. Licensed HVAC technicians, fleet mechanics, and plumbing professionals install this fitting in compressed air and brake line assemblies.
This fitting is intended for use in D.O.T.-regulated air brake systems as well as general compressed air plumbing applications. The push-to-connect design allows for fast field assembly without additional ferrules or compression sleeves. It is suited for both light commercial and heavy-duty vehicle air brake circuits, as well as pneumatic control lines in HVAC and industrial equipment where 1/2 inch OD tubing with a 1/4 inch NPT port interface is required.
Designed as a D.O.T.-rated replacement or service fitting for air brake and compressed air systems using 1/2 inch OD tubing with 1/4 inch NPT threaded ports. Confirm thread type and tube OD against existing system specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanic or technician familiar with D.O.T. air brake regulations and pneumatic system requirements. Depressurize and drain the air system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Verify that the tube OD and NPT thread size match the system connections before assembly. Apply appropriate thread sealant to the male NPT threads in accordance with system requirements and applicable codes.
