The PARKER 169PTC-4-6 is a push-to-connect 90-degree male elbow tube fitting designed for air brake and pneumatic tubing systems. It connects 1/4 inch OD tubing to a 3/8 inch NPTF male thread with a single push-in action, eliminating the need for compression sleeves or ferrules. Constructed from brass with a nitrile O-ring, it is rated for a maximum working pressure of 250 psi and a temperature range of -40 to 200 degrees F. Licensed HVAC technicians, fleet mechanics, and pneumatic system installers use this fitting where a 90-degree directional change is needed in a tubing run.
This fitting is classified as a D.O.T. air brake fitting, meeting D.O.T. FMVSS571.106, SAE J2494, SAE J2494-3, and SAE J844 standards. It is suited for use in commercial vehicle air brake lines, pneumatic control circuits, and similar compressed-air applications that require a compliant, push-to-connect elbow at a tube-to-male-pipe transition. The brass construction makes it appropriate for dry-air and low-moisture environments where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are required.
Designed as a D.O.T.-compliant air brake fitting for use with 1/4 inch OD tubing and 3/8 inch NPTF male pipe connections in compressed-air and pneumatic brake systems meeting SAE J844 tube specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanic or pneumatic systems technician. Depressurize the air system completely before removing or installing any fitting. Ensure tubing is cut cleanly and squarely, free of burrs, before inserting into the push-to-connect port. Thread the NPTF male end using appropriate thread sealant compatible with air systems, and torque by hand until snug before tool-tightening — do not over-tighten the brass body.
