The PARKER 149F-5-4 is a brass 45-degree flared tube male elbow fitting designed for use in fluid and refrigeration line assemblies where a directional change is required. It connects a 5/16-inch OD flared tube on one end to a 1/4-18 NPTF male threaded port on the other, providing a secure, leak-resistant joint in both liquid and gas service. The fitting is rated to 1200 psi maximum working pressure and can handle temperatures up to 250 degrees F. It is machined from brass for corrosion resistance and dimensional accuracy. HVAC technicians, plumbers, and refrigeration mechanics install this type of fitting in tubing runs that require a 45-degree turn at a threaded port connection.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial applications including refrigeration lines, HVAC refrigerant or oil lines, fuel systems, and hydraulic or pneumatic circuits operating within the rated pressure and temperature limits. The flare end conforms to SAE J512 and SAE J513 standards, making it compatible with standard 45-degree SAE flare tubing systems. The NPTF male thread provides a dry-seal mechanical connection when engaged with a female NPT or NPTF port, reducing reliance on thread sealant in many installations.
Designed for use with 5/16-inch OD 45-degree SAE flared tubing systems and equipment with 1/4-18 NPTF female-threaded ports, in accordance with SAE J512 and SAE J513 flare standards.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed HVAC technician, plumber, or refrigeration mechanic. De-pressurize and isolate the line before disassembling or installing any fitting. Ensure the mating tube end is properly flared to a 45-degree angle using a calibrated flaring tool before assembly. Do not overtighten the flare nut, as over-torquing can distort the flare seat and cause leaks.
