The PANDUIT SA500-X is an aluminum compression splice designed to join aluminum conductors with a secure, low-resistance electrical connection. Compression splices of this type are installed using a calibrated crimping tool to deform the sleeve around both conductors, creating a gas-tight mechanical and electrical bond. This hardware accessory is typically installed by licensed electricians working on aluminum wiring runs in residential, commercial, or industrial distribution systems. The SA500-X is sold individually and is part of PANDUIT's compression connector line for aluminum conductor termination work.
Aluminum compression splices are used wherever two aluminum conductors must be joined end-to-end within a raceway, junction box, or splice enclosure. They are well suited for feeder and branch-circuit work where aluminum conductors are specified for cost or weight reasons. Installation requires proper conductor preparation, including removal of oxide layer and application of appropriate joint compound before crimping, to ensure a lasting, code-compliant connection.
Designed as an OEM-style compression splice for aluminum conductor splicing applications in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for aluminum conductor terminations. Power down and lock out the circuit before beginning any splice work. Conductors must be properly prepared by stripping insulation, removing the aluminum oxide layer, and applying a listed oxide-inhibiting joint compound before inserting into the splice barrel. Use only the manufacturer-specified compression tool and die set to achieve the correct crimp profile.
