The PANDUIT LAA4/0-38-30 is an aluminum compression lug designed for terminating large-gauge aluminum conductors in electrical power distribution applications. Compression lugs create a gas-tight, mechanically secure connection between a conductor and a bus bar, terminal block, or equipment stud. This lug is intended for use with 4/0 AWG aluminum conductors and is installed using a standard compression crimping tool calibrated for aluminum terminations. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this type of lug in panel boards, switchgear, service entrances, and similar high-current wiring assemblies.
Aluminum compression lugs in this class are commonly used in residential and light commercial service entrance work, as well as in industrial power distribution panels where large-gauge aluminum feeder conductors require reliable, code-compliant terminations. The LAA4/0-38-30 is suited for applications where aluminum conductors are run to main breakers, sub-panels, or metering equipment. Installation must comply with applicable NEC requirements for aluminum conductor terminations, including proper use of antioxidant compound where required by the authority having jurisdiction.
Designed as an OEM-style compression lug for use with 4/0 AWG aluminum conductors in standard electrical termination applications. Confirm tool and die compatibility with your crimping tool manufacturer before installation.
Installation must be performed by a qualified, licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before beginning any termination work. Use a compression crimping tool and die set rated and sized for this lug and conductor combination. Apply antioxidant compound to aluminum conductors before insertion into the lug barrel as required by code or equipment manufacturer guidelines.
