The Oxbox J5MXCD018AC6HC is a multi-position cased evaporator coil designed for residential split-system cooling and heat pump applications. Rated for 3.0 to 3.5 tons of capacity, this coil operates with R-454B refrigerant, a lower-global-warming-potential refrigerant now required under current EPA regulations for new HVAC equipment. The cased design protects the coil assembly during installation and provides a finished, sealed plenum interface. HVAC technicians install this coil on the indoor side of the system, where it absorbs heat and removes humidity from circulated air before delivery through the duct system.
This coil is suited for residential forced-air systems where a multi-position configuration is required. The multi-position design allows installation in upflow, downflow, or horizontal orientations, giving installers flexibility when working with existing air handler or furnace configurations. It pairs with compatible outdoor condensing units charged with R-454B refrigerant and is appropriate for new construction and like-for-like equipment replacement projects where the outdoor unit is also being upgraded to R-454B-compatible equipment.
Designed for use with R-454B-charged residential split-system air conditioners and heat pumps in the 3.0 to 3.5 ton range. Specific outdoor unit compatibility should be confirmed against Oxbox equipment match tables prior to installation.
Installation of evaporator coils must be performed by an EPA Section 608-certified HVAC technician. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power to the air handler or furnace before opening the cabinet and installing the coil. R-454B is an A2L mildly flammable refrigerant — follow all applicable safety guidelines and local codes governing its handling, leak detection, and system commissioning. Verify that the metering device configuration is compatible with the matched outdoor unit before finalizing refrigerant connections.
