The Oxbox J5AH5E36A1B00 is a 3-ton (36,000 BTU/h) multi-positional electric air handler built for residential split-system applications. It runs on an ECM (electronically commutated motor), which delivers variable-speed airflow control and lower operating amp draw compared to a standard PSC motor. The unit is compatible with R-454B refrigerant, positioning it for current and near-term installations under updated refrigerant regulations. Licensed HVAC technicians install this unit as the indoor component of a split-system cooling or heat pump configuration.
This air handler is suited for residential new construction and retrofit projects where flexible installation orientation is required. The multi-positional design supports vertical upflow, vertical downflow, and horizontal installation, making it adaptable to attic, basement, closet, and utility room applications. It is also rated suitable for mobile home installations. Field-installed electric heater kits can be added where supplemental heat is needed, and condensate drain connections use 3/4-inch female pipe thread (NPT) for standard field plumbing.
Designed as an OEM-style indoor air handler for use in residential split-system cooling and heat pump configurations. Specific outdoor unit pairings and system matchups should be confirmed against the manufacturer published combination ratings before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and the manufacturer installation guide. De-energize all electrical circuits and recover or isolate refrigerant before opening the system. Refrigerant line connections are copper sweat type; all brazing and refrigerant handling must comply with applicable EPA Section 608 requirements. Condensate drain piping and any field-installed electric heater kit must be completed per local plumbing and electrical codes before system startup.
