The OWENS CORNING 441743 CARTON OF 32 is a rigid fiberglass ductboard panel rated R-6, sized at 1.5 inches thick by 4 feet wide by 10 feet long. Each carton contains 32 panels. Ductboard of this type serves as both the structural duct wall and the thermal and acoustic insulation in one assembly, eliminating the need for a separate metal duct liner. It is used to fabricate air distribution ducts for residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Licensed HVAC contractors and sheet metal fabricators install this product when building supply or return air duct systems directly from insulating board stock.
This ductboard is suited for low-pressure air distribution systems in forced-air heating and cooling applications. Panels are field-fabricated into rectangular duct sections using a V-groove tool, closure staples, and approved duct closure tape or mastic. Typical installations include trunk lines, branch runs, and plenums in residential new construction and renovation projects. The R-6 thermal rating meets or exceeds common energy code requirements for duct insulation in conditioned and semi-conditioned spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction ductboard for low-pressure residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC duct systems where field-fabricated rigid fiberglass duct assemblies are specified.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC contractor or qualified sheet metal fabricator following SMACNA Fibrous Glass Duct Construction Standards and applicable local mechanical codes. Power down the air handling unit before connecting new duct sections to the system. Use a V-groove cutter sized for 1.5-inch board to score fold lines, and seal all seams with UL 181B-rated closure tape or mastic as required by code. Avoid compressing the fiberglass panels during handling, as compression reduces effective R-value.
