The OSRAM LU100/MED is a 100-watt high pressure sodium (HPS) lamp built for demanding commercial and industrial lighting applications. It features an ED17 bulb shape with a clear coating, an E26 medium screw base, and a universal operating position for flexible fixture mounting. Initial output is 6500 lumens with a mean intensity of 8000 lumens over the rated life, and rated lamp life reaches 24000 hours. Operating voltage is 55 volts, and the lamp is ANSI code S54/O ballast-compatible. It is manufactured lead-free, making it a compliant direct replacement for standard HPS lamps that do not pass the Federal TCLP test.
This lamp is suited for a wide range of commercial, industrial, and municipal installations. Rated applications include architectural lighting, canopy fixtures, floodlights, high bay and low bay industrial spaces, roadway cobra head fixtures, and wall-mount luminaires. The universal burn position allows installation in both vertical and horizontal socket orientations without derating lamp performance. Color temperature is 2100 K with a color rendering index of 22, consistent with the amber-white output typical of high pressure sodium sources used in area and security lighting.
Compatible with magnetic HPS ballasts carrying ANSI code S54/O. Designed as a lead-free direct replacement for standard 100-watt high pressure sodium lamps in fixtures requiring an E26 medium base and ED17 shape. Suitable for architectural, canopy, floodlight, high bay, low bay, roadway cobra head, and wall-mount luminaire types.
HPS lamp replacement should be performed by a qualified electrician with power to the fixture fully disconnected and the lamp allowed to cool completely before handling, as operating temperatures can cause burns. Verify ballast ANSI code S54/O compatibility before installation. Allow 3 to 4 minutes for the lamp to reach full brightness on initial start; after a hot shutdown, the lamp requires approximately 1 minute before it will restrike. Handle the outer envelope with clean gloves to prevent oil contamination that can cause premature failure.
