The OSG VGM7-0097 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance finishing in ferrous and hard materials. It features a 3/4-inch cutting diameter with a 0.03-inch corner radius, 7 flutes, and a 2.25-inch length of cut. The tool carries OSG's EXO coating, which is designed to extend tool life and reduce heat buildup in demanding applications. With a 5-inch overall length and a straight-cylindrical 3/4-inch shank, it seats directly into standard toolholders. Variable index spacing helps reduce chatter and improve surface finish on difficult-to-machine workpiece materials.
This end mill is suited for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is used in CNC machining centers where precise dimensional control and surface finish quality are required. The close pitch flute configuration supports clean chip evacuation in tight tolerances. A right-hand cutting direction with right-hand flute spiral is standard. The corner radius geometry reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, making it appropriate for semi-finishing and finishing passes in mold, die, and precision component work.
Designed for use with standard toolholders in CNC machining applications. Intended for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as indicated by OSG material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the toolholder bore and collet are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout after clamping to the tolerance requirements of the application. Do not exceed the rated length of cut when programming axial depth of cut.
