Product Description

The OSG VGM7-0094 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for finishing operations in demanding metalworking applications. Built on OSG's VGM7 series platform, it features a 3/4-inch mill diameter, a 0.03-inch corner radius, and 7 flutes with a close pitch and variable index geometry. The EXO proprietary coating improves heat resistance and tool life in high-wear cutting environments. With a 1-1/2-inch length of cut and 4-inch overall length, this single-end tool is suited to CNC machining centers and milling operations where surface finish and edge integrity are critical. Machinists and tooling professionals working in production shops and job shops are the primary users.

This end mill targets finishing cuts in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The short flute length and 7-flute geometry make it well-suited for light radial depths of cut at higher feed rates, reducing deflection and improving finish quality on ferrous and exotic alloys. The 3/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard toolholders. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction are standard. This tool does not have centercutting capability or coolant-through passages, so tool path planning should account for those limitations.

Key Features

  • 7-flute, close-pitch design enables higher feed rates and improved surface finish on finishing passes
  • 0.03-inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life
  • EXO coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal protection in steel and superalloy cuts
  • Variable index flute spacing reduces chatter and vibration during high-speed milling
  • Solid carbide construction delivers rigidity and dimensional stability in short-length-of-cut applications
  • Right-hand spiral flutes with medium helix style for balanced chip evacuation in ferrous materials

Compatibility

Designed for use with standard cylindrical-bore toolholders accepting a 3/4-inch straight shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H).

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the toolholder depressurized or released before inserting or removing the end mill. Verify shank runout and toolholder clamping torque per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications before commencing cuts. Because this tool is not center-cutting, avoid plunge entry — use ramp or helical entry strategies when profiling.
