The OSG VGM6-0076 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for finishing operations in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 1/2 inch mill diameter, a 0.09 inch corner radius, and six flutes arranged in a close-pitch, variable-index configuration with a medium right-hand helix. OSG applies their proprietary EXO coating to extend tool life in high-wear applications. The single-end geometry and straight cylindrical shank make this a straightforward drop-in for standard toolholders used in CNC milling operations.
This end mill is built for finishing passes on hard and difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. The 1-1/4 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length suit it to a wide range of part geometries encountered in job shop and production machining environments. The variable index flute spacing reduces chatter and improves surface finish quality when milling steel and high-temperature alloys. It is sized for use with standard 1/2 inch bore toolholders including end mill holders, shrink-fit chucks, and hydraulic chucks.
Designed for use with standard 1/2 inch bore toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H). Part of the OSG VGM6 series. Not center-cutting; not intended for plunge entry.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out before tool changes. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended insertion depth specified by the toolholder manufacturer and verify runout with a dial indicator before running. Do not use this end mill for plunge cutting, as it is not center-cutting. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut.
