The OSG VGM6-0056 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. With a 0.375-inch cutting diameter, six flutes, and a 37-degree helix angle, this end mill delivers smooth chip evacuation and efficient material removal. The EXO coating provides enhanced surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in demanding applications. The variable index design reduces harmonic vibration during cuts, improving surface finish. This tool is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
The VGM6-0056 is suited for profiling, slotting, and side milling applications where a regular-length tool is appropriate. The 1.5-inch length of cut accommodates moderate-depth passes in production machining environments, both in job shop settings and automated CNC cells. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard collet or end mill holders. Note that this tool is non-centercutting and is not intended for direct plunge operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production cutting tool for use in standard 3/8-inch collets, end mill holders, or hydraulic tool holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Part of the OSG VGM6 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before tooling changes. Seat the shank to the recommended engagement depth in the holder and torque the set screw or collet nut per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts.
