The OSG VGM5-1029 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) cutting diameter with a 0.01 inch corner radius, 5 flutes, and a 15/64 inch length of cut. The tool is finished with OSG EXO coating for extended tool life and thermal resistance at elevated cutting speeds. It is a single-end, right-hand cutting, right-hand spiral tool with a straight cylindrical shank and is suited for both roughing and finishing operations. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and precision manufacturing environments are the primary users of this end mill.
This end mill is engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its extended reach geometry and high helix style make it effective in deep-pocket and side-wall milling scenarios where rigidity and chip evacuation are critical. The variable index feature helps reduce harmonic vibration during aggressive passes. The short length type and normal pitch configuration keep the tool stable in tight-tolerance work on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 3/16 inch straight cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG VGM5-LN series, compatible with vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H).
This tool is installed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using a compatible toolholder rated for the 3/16 inch shank diameter and shank tolerance class h6. Verify toolholder runout before cutting to protect the tight diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to -0.0011 inch on the cutting diameter. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the end mill. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material being machined.
