The OSG VGM5-0243 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It features a 0.75 inch mill diameter, a 3.75 inch length of cut, and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and extends tool life in high-stress cutting environments. The 7 inch overall length makes this an extra-long reach tool suited for deep-pocket and tall-workpiece applications. EXO coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat management at elevated cutting speeds. Five flutes with a variable index deliver improved chip evacuation and reduced vibration during both roughing and finishing passes. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.75 inches in diameter and is designed for use with a standard toolholder.
The VGM5-0243 is built for CNC machining centers and milling operations where extended reach is required. It is well suited for die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and production runs on hardened or exotic alloy workpieces. The single-end, center-cutting design allows plunge entry and full slot milling. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation make this a conventional setup for the majority of vertical and horizontal machining center configurations. The extra-long length type addresses applications where standard-length end mills cannot reach the cutting zone without toolholder interference.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine control locked out. Ensure the toolholder bore and shank are clean and free of chips before clamping. Shank diameter tolerance is h6; verify toolholder bore tolerance is compatible to achieve proper fit and runout. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended overhang length, as extended-reach tools amplify deflection forces at high material removal rates.
