The OSG VGM5-0151 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on OSG's VGM5 series platform, it features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.06 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a variable index geometry that reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts. The EXO coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat management, making it suitable for both roughing and finishing passes without changing tools. This end mill is a single-end, right-hand cutting tool with a straight cylindrical shank and is intended for use with a standard toolholder in CNC milling operations.
The VGM5-0151 is engineered for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is well suited to high-speed CNC milling centers in job shops, aerospace, and general metalworking environments where consistent corner geometry and surface finish are critical. The 1-1/2 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length make it a practical choice for shoulder milling, slotting, and profiling operations on medium-depth features. Machinists and CNC programmers working with difficult-to-cut materials will benefit from the combination of variable index flute spacing and the EXO coating's thermal protection.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as identified by ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended gauge length and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts.
