The OSG VGM5-0112 is a single-end corner radius end mill built from solid carbide and finished with OSG EXO coating. It carries a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, and a 0.0300 inch corner radius that protects the cutting edge and reduces chipping at the tool nose. The 5-flute geometry combined with a high-helix, right-hand spiral and variable index design supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. Weighing 0.17 pounds, the VGM5-0112 is suited for machinists and toolroom operators running CNC machining centers in production or job-shop environments.
The VGM5-0112 is designed for use on ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The EXO coating provides thermal and wear resistance, making it well matched to high-speed finishing passes and aggressive roughing in materials that accelerate tool wear. It seats in standard straight-cylindrical toolholders and is centercutting, allowing plunge entry. Typical applications include profile milling, slotting, and contour work on workpieces where edge integrity and surface finish are critical.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter with h6 tolerance. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per OSG material application codes P, M, K, S, and H. Part of the OSG VGM5 series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool-change sequence is complete before handling or seating the end mill. Confirm toolholder runout is within acceptable limits before securing the shank, as excess runout will accelerate wear on a 5-flute carbide tool. Follow the machine builder and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for pull-stud torque and collet nut engagement.
